The Area
We are situated on the Welsh/Herefordshire border only 5 miles from the famous book town of Hay-on-Wye which is known Worldwide for its second hand bookshops and literary festival. Hay and the surrounding area has many restaurants and pubs to appeal to all tastes. The area offers a wealth of things to keep you occupied; whether it be outdoor pursuits or visiting the many historic towns and villages. Pony Trekking & Horse Riding
Both are on your doorstep at Tregoyd Mountain Riders! Pony trekking is undertaken at a walking pace, and once you have got used to your pony or horse, the occasional trot on some of the many trails on the Black Mountains. Horse Riding trails go further and cover more ground than Pony Trekking routes as there is more trotting and the occasional canter. The horses are a little more forward going and we can vary the rides to suit different abilities.

Walking
Whether you prefer strolling along to take in the gems you pass or energetically stepping up a slope to get your heart pounding, you’re guaranteed to find a walk to suit your mood and needs within easy distance of your base here. We are situated in the foothills of the Black Mountains and only a few miles from the Brecon Beacons and the Offas Dyke Trail.

Cycling & Mountain Biking
Cycling and mountain biking is a fabulous way to experience our glorious countryside. It gives you healthy exercise, relieves stress and allows you to spend time in the fresh air with family and friends. The surrounding area has lots of different terrain to explore, including roads, towpaths, lanes and hillside tracks. Local hire companies can set up anything from a simple day's bike hire to a complete package with equipment, routes and guides all included.

Watersports
We are only 2 miles from the River Wye at Glasbury or Hay on Wye and 5 miles from Llangorse Lake. Canoes can be hired at both. The area offers an array range of options for watersports, from the tranquillity of canals and reservoirs to extreme kayaking over jaw-dropping waterfalls.

Dark Skies
On a clear night in the Brecon Beacons, you can see the Milky Way, major constellations, bright nebulas and even meteor showers. It’s enough to make anyone starry eyed. The area has some of the highest quality dark skies in the whole of the UK, making it the perfect destination for stargazers!

Events & Festivals
One of the world’s biggest and best literary festivals happens every year in late spring in nearby Hay-on-Wye - it attracts 100,000-plus visitors and the world’s great writers, poets, philosophers, historians, scientists, comedians and musicians. In July, nearby Builth Wells hosts an exciting four-days of livestock and equine competitions, with entries travelling from far and wide to compete - the Royal Welsh Show has something to interest everyone through its wide range of activities including forestry, horticulture, crafts, countryside sports, shopping, food and drink and a 12-hour programme each day of exciting entertainment, attractions and displays.

Hay on Wye
Lots of lovely bookshops and a world-famous annual literary festival mean Hay-on-Wye is known as the town of books - there are around 30 of them dotted around the town, but with medieval town walls, a popular market, and a gently flowing river that’s perfect for canoeing, there’s so much more to discover during a visit.
